There is a spiritual healing component to depression that goes beyond mere positive thinking. (This does not mean that a positive attitude has no importance, obviously, it does.) More specifically, I’m referring to the long-ignored spiritual grace of deliverance. Once you learn more about it, you’ll want to add it to your other healthy practices.
Over the years, I’ve met several acquaintances and people at work who have struggled with depression. Some of them stated that despite medication and all sorts of counseling, they have had little improvement in their mental health. This surprised me because it sounded like they were doing what they needed to heal.
Now, with the wisdom of maturity, I realize that not all psychological issues are purely psychological. There is a dimension of spiritual healing that needs to be accomplished in some cases. A real game-changing discovery for me was this lecture from Derek Prince. What he says is so true. Not all thoughts are your own. Some intrusive thoughts and moods are indications of a spiritual attack. After watching, I hope you find his insights empowering.
By the way, I have some general deliverance prayers in this other post. You’ll be amazed at how powerful reciting God’s word each day can be.
